Accommodations & Layout
Island Packet Yachts have a reputation for offering unsurpassed room aboard for their size, and the Island Packet 27 is no exception. "Moon Song" is a 1986 model which has been well kept throughout her inception.
Starting forward on the bow, you will see that she offers a bow sprit with accommodation for two anchors on rollers, and even has a third roller as a spare! Roller furling drum can be found here as well - offering maximum amount of sail area by mounting this as far forward as possible. An electric anchor windlass can be found on the foredeck controlling the primary anchor and rode. While not presently installed, there is also a base and other necessary components in order to set the boat up with a staysail if desired. As you progress further aft, you are safely ensconced by high life lines, wide side decks, and handrails on either side of the high coach roof, providing secure passage from bow to stern. Garhauer adjustable traveler sits atop the deck in front of the dodger. Stepping into the cockpit you are met with ample comfortable seating, helm binnacle, custom rail seats aft, and a centerline swim ladder. Top engine access is via the cockpit sole.
Stepping over the bridge deck and down the ladder to the main salon, you again are met with an unbelievable amount of space for the size of the vessel. Her wide beam ensures that there is a lot of interior volume for storage and accommodation. There is an oversized V-berth forward which has a partial bulkhead and a privacy curtain when needed. Aft of the berth is a large locker to port and the head opposite to starboard. Aft of the head brings you in to the main salon with settees on either side and a bulkhead mounted table with extra leaf as well as galleyware storage behind, and a teak wine glass rack overhead. Aft to port is the L-shaped galley with a stainless steel sink featuring hot and cold pressurized water, a two burner stove, and 12V DC refrigeration. Opposite to starboard is the electrical panel and quarterberth.
