Travis Gomez joined the DiMillo’s team in 2023 as our new Corporate Captain.
Travis grew up in Kennebunkport, Maine, then attended Colby College majoring in Biology with a concentration in Ecology and Evolution. What started as a deep love for aquatic creatures blossomed into a healthy obsession after studying abroad in the Turks and Caicos. After school Travis returned to work at the research center studying the local shark population and guiding dives. A few years later Travis moved to North Haven, Maine, an island 12 miles off the coast in Penobscot Bay, where he worked at a boatyard until he was able to secure a job as a sternman on a lobster boat. As he spent time on the bay, he realized there was a lack of transportation options for non-boat owners and started a charter service with an old vessel he resurrected from the dead. After a proof-of-concept season, he upgraded to a larger sport cabin cruiser and ran the charter business for a few years. In the off season he worked on an 80ft private yacht ranging from Canada to the Bahamas. The yacht eventually sold to new owners who took the boat, and Travis, overseas. Travis taught them about their new vessel and worked for them for a number of years managing a million-dollar refit and traveling the waters between the North Sea and Mediterranean. After being away from home for years, Travis returned to Maine, and filled the Corporate Captain position with DiMillo’s!
Travis has many interests and hobbies including surfing, building surfboards, rock climbing, diving, and much more. Fun fact about Travis, he was the captain of his college woodsmen’s team and did competitive lumberjacking!
