Location: Portland, Maine
I did most of my growing up in Kennebunkport, then attended Colby College majoring in Biology with a concentration in Ecology and Evolution. What started as a deep love for aquatic creatures blossomed into a healthy obsession after studying abroad in the Turks and Caicos. After school I returned to work at the research center studying the local shark population and guiding dives. I then moved to the Florida Keys to obtain my dive instructor.
Once I had grown tired of a deep tan and sunshine I moved back to Maine and lived on North Haven, an island 12 miles off the coast in Penobscot Bay. There I worked at a boatyard until able to secure a job as a sternman on a lobster boat.
As I spent time out on the bay, I realized there was a distinct lack of transportation options for non-boat owners. I saved and then started a charter service with a 26-year-old vessel I resurrected from the dead. After a proof-of-concept season I upgraded to a larger sport cabin cruiser and ran that business for another few years. In the off season I worked on an 80ft private yacht ranging from Canada to the Bahamas. Eventually she was sold to clients overseas. I went to teach them about their new vessel and ended up working for them for a number of years, managing a million-dollar refit, and traveling the waters between the North Sea and Mediterranean. After being away from home for so long, it was time to come back and I was fortunate enough to find this position at DiMillo’s.
I am truly excited to join the team here in Portland and work with new and returning clients to help fulfill their own aquatic dreams!
In my off time you can find me doing any number of things. In the workshop turning wood, building surfboards, surfing surfboards, wingfoiling, rock climbing, diving, etc…
