DiMillo’s Yacht Sales is a professional yacht dealership and brokerage firm with five locations stretching along the east coast including Freeport and Portland, Maine; Glen Cove, New York and West River and Oxford, Maryland. DiMillo’s has been providing yacht sales expertise since 1998, with over two hundred years of combined broker experience, now representing new yachts from Sabre Yachts, Back Cove Yachts, and MJM Yachts. In addition to new and pre-owned yacht sales, DiMillo’s is proud to have a full time, year round service team that focuses efforts on their new and brokerage buyers. The service team’s capabilities include all aspects of commissioning new vessels, yacht repair and in-house captain services.
Our Glen Cove, New York based service center is hiring a Marine Service Technician. The Technician will work closely with the Service Manager and will be involved in all aspects of commissioning, troubleshooting, decommissioning, fit and finish work, and delivery of a vessel.
Responsibilities of the Marine Service Technician position are as follows:
New boat commission: new systems, custom request installs, sea trialing, electronics installation.
Mechanical diagnostics, troubleshooting, general maintenance and repair of new and pre-owned vessels.
Testing engines, generators, propellers, steering, and navigational equipment.
Spring commissioning and Fall decommissioning of a vessel ranging from 20’ – 70’ of all makes, models, and sizes.
Identify, report, and correct warranty items.
Reading through work orders to determine the material, time, and equipment required.
Consulting with the Service Manager, Office Manager, Service Writer, other professionals, and vendors.
Requirements:
Mechanical background.
General Boat Systems Knowledge.
Demonstrate understanding of marine systems, vessel operation, vessel construction and troubleshooting principles.
Excellent verbal and written communicator amongst co-workers, industry representatives and customers.
Excellent attention to detail and strong self-discipline under strict scheduling.
Flexible, goal oriented, team focused.
Experience in the marine industry is preferred.
Capable of lifting 50lbs, occasionally more.
