I grew up on Peaks Island right here in Casco Bay, where being constantly on the water was a way of life. From riding the ferry to school everyday, to sailing trips with friends, fishing recreationally and commercially, kayaking, and surfing, I quickly realized that I wanted my life to be focused on interacting with the Ocean.

I went to Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, ME and after graduating and passing my unlimited tonnage license tests, I worked on Oceangoing Tugs, Barges, and Oil Tankers for 7+ years. I also worked on National Geographic Ships searching the Pacific from British Columbia to Mexico looking for Humpbacks, Sperm Whales, Orcas, and anything else extraordinary. I’ve Captained vessels here in Casco Bay, sailed aboard historic Tall Ships, and have gained a vast array in woodworking and metal fabrication in roles as a shipwright and a fabricator.

I’m extremely excited to be a part of the DiMillo’s family working with impeccable boat builders and skilled technicians in the most innovative and cutting edge time of the Maritime Industry since the Marine Engine was invented.

In my spare time if I am not actively on the water in some capacity- you can find me woodworking, playing guitar, taking my dogs to the beach, creating art, kayaking, or working on my homestead on Cranberry Island.

Sam joined DiMillo’s in 2025.
