James Brown

Growing up on the shoreline in Connecticut, I gravitated to the water at an early age. I have been boating, sailing, and fishing since the age of six. I started in the boat repair business by joining the family business at Deep River Marina in 1978. In 1985, I traveled to Europe and worked for the US Army in West Berlin as a sailing instructor for the American Yacht Club Berlin, where I also served as the Chief of Boats. I returned home two years later to rejoin the family business. In 1997 Deep River Marina was purchased by Brewer Yacht Yards. I then became general manager of Brewer Deep River where I worked until my retirement in 2018. I returned to the marina business in 2023 as the varnish technician at Old Lyme Marina.

I am pleased to say that I continue to be the varnish technician for DiMillo’s Old Lyme Marina today.
