Captain Eli and Mate Graham have finally continued on their journey to the Georgian Bay. The Sabre 48 Salon Express departed at 5:30AM this morning and they traveled through until 7PM this evening. During their travel today, they went through Lock #17, the largest lock in New York State raising the water level 40.5 feet, located in Little Falls, NY. The boys are spending the night at Lock #23 in Oneida. According to the NY Canal System website, “Erie Canal Lock 23 is the busiest lock along the entire canal system due to is prime location between Oneida Lake and Lake Ontario and the Finger Lakes. It is also one of the more unusual locks because it has an integrated guard gate on its upstream (east) side. Furthermore it is one of three sites in the state still generating power using its original powerhouse.”
