The Volvo Penta IPS propulsion system offers several major-league advantages over traditional inboard power, which explains why our Sabre and Back Cove owners rave about them.

The pod drives boost efficiency gains, increase the boat’s usable space and offer enhanced handling and maneuverability.

Pod drives are a marine power system that eliminates the need for shafts, struts and rudders.  Instead of using traditional running gear to transfer the engine’s power into thrust, a “pod”, consisting of the transmission, outdrive and propellers, is mounted right through the bottom of the boat.

The first pod drive which was released in 2005 has now evolved into one of the most popular choices for boat owners everywhere.  The photos below are from a 2024 Sabre 43SE soon to be delivered to her new owners.
