Slow Cooker Apple Cider – A Versatile Autumn Boating Beverage

In Maryland, the weather has changed for sure. We’re still seeing a few boats out for pleasure cruises on occasion, but the season is definitely nearing its close. This Slow Cooker Apple Cider is a perfect hot beverage to keep you toasty while you get in the last few cruises of the year.

  • 8 Gala apples
  • 10 cups Water
  • 4 sticks Cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon whole Cloves
  • 1 teaspoon Allspice
  • ½ cup Brown sugar

Peel, core, and dice apples and place them in a slow cooker with water, cloves, cinnamon, and allspice. Cook on high for 3-4 hours. Add the brown sugar then mash apples and cook for another 1-2 hours on low. Strain into a thermos and pack up for the boat ride. If you really want to warm up, add your favorite rum or bourbon to your mug before enjoying!
