Observed annually on August 7th, National Lighthouse Day honors the beacon of light that for hundreds of years symbolized safety and security for ships and boats at sea.
In Maine, Portland Head Light is a popular landmark situated on the shoreline of Cape Elizabeth. This iconic lighthouse was constructed between 1787 and 1790 and was first lit on January 10, 1791.
As boaters, this is a sight we see often cruising the Maine waters, and yet it gets more stunning the more you lay eyes on it. We have taken advantage of its proximity to our Portland offices and have used it as a backdrop for photo shoots our famous Lobster Palooza boat parades!
