Meet John diPretoro, Portland, Maine’s Service Manager! John joined the DiMillo’s service team during the summer of 2022 and brought with him a lifetime of marine knowledge!
Born and raised in Kingston, Rhode Island, John spent his earliest years sailing with his family on Narragansett Bay and the surrounding waters. After high school, he joined the Coast Guard and spent 4 years on a large cutter based out of Portland, rescuing migrants, lost sailors, and seizing illegal drugs. Following those years, John earned a BA at the University of Southern Maine while in the CG reserves, then got his master’s license. From there, John made his way to the Downeast Maine boat yards where he got a job as a rigger and electrician at the Hinckley Company. A few years in, his skills were being noticed across the harbor and he was hired as the new boat project manager at Morris Yachts. John enjoyed working with owners and their new boats, and especially liked the service side. Following this position, he accepted the service manager position at Brooklin Boat Yard. John spent 12 happy years working and living along the Eggemoggin Reach! As time passed, he and his family decided to move closer to their roots in southern & western Maine. When an opportunity arose to work at DiMillo’s, John found it to be an easy and happy choice for him!
When not at work, John likes to sail, ski, watch the Patriots and Bruins, play golf, as well as relax with family and neighbors!
