Erik Hawkinson is the new captain at the helm of our Service Department. Erik comes to DiMillo’s with a wealth of knowledge and years of experience and is committed to delivering the DiMillo’s Experience here in Oxford, MD. Here’s more about Erik’s journey to DiMillo’s on the Chesapeake East:
“Growing up in Minnesota, I was taught to make the most of the limited boating season. The Apostle Islands on Lake Superior were my main stomping grounds. The ferocity of that lake was a thoughtful teacher in humility.
I received a proper taste of the East Coast in the US Navy, being stationed in Norfolk, VA aboard the USS Normandy CG60 as a QM.
Once back in MN, I continued to sail and work on as many boats as I could. One very cold winter, living in the north woods, my little family decided we had enough and moved our life out to Rhode Island so I could attend IYRS and solidify my marine knowledge. After school we moved again to Maryland where I got a job with Hinckley Yachts. After a few years, we decided to fulfill a lifelong goal and we moved aboard our 36-foot Ketch and we traveled for three years. We had such a great experience on the Eastern Shore we made a choice to call it home. Now at DiMillo’s I feel like I am in the right place with the right people and the right boats.”
