Twenty-five years ago today, our country changed forever.
On September 11, 2001, as Lower Manhattan faced unimaginable devastation, an extraordinary call went out across New York Harbor: all available boats.
Ferries, tugboats, workboats, private vessels, captains, crews, and everyday mariners answered without hesitation. Together, they helped evacuate nearly 500,000 people from Lower Manhattan in the largest maritime evacuations in history.
As a company built by and with the support of the boating community, we are especially moved by the courage of those mariners who stepped forward when their city needed them most.
Today, we remember the lives lost, honor the first responders, and recognize the countless ordinary people who did extraordinary things.
We will never forget.
