Client Update: The Great Loop

One of our Maryland clients checked in to share his latest travels on his Back Cove 37 along the Great Loop– the epic 6,000 mile waterway journey circling the eastern U.S. and parts of Canada.

Here is the latest update:

We are spending our last few nights in Canada at anchor. The plan is to be in the U.S. on Saturday. We have a slip for a few nights at Mackinac Island starting Sunday which pushed us ahead a few days but I was told this is a must do stop and booked up. We have been remote on anchor and hanging on Canada Parks walls for the last few weeks intermixed with some small town marinas so this will be a little culture shock. I am thinking Michigan is going to be crazy busy.

Check out this little video. I took off my AGLCA flag and hung the DiMillo’s flag. As I came back in the cabin getting ready to leave Ruth was thinking I gave up on the loop – she was concerned for a minute. No, I told her. I wanted to take the time lapsed video with the DiMillo’s flag. We are anchored in a very remote and unique location called ‘The Pool’ which is at the end of Baie Finn (Bay Fin). The little cabin you see belonged to Ralph Evinrude. The story goes, he used to take his 115’ yacht the Chanticleer and dock it next to the house and power it from the generators on the boat. It was tight getting Indigo back in there, but I guess local knowledge and experience makes all the difference. There is the Killarney Provincial Park across the way and you can take a 30 minute hike up the steep terrain to a very large and clean mountain lake called Lake Topaz.

We love following along as our clients take their boats on incredible adventures!
