Last Wednesday was a heartwarming and proud day for the team at DiMillo’s on the Chesapeake, the DiMillo’s Sales and Service Team on the Chesapeake. As the DiMillo’s team staged in for the Annapolis Powerboat Show and Brokerage Cove, they had the opportunity to rally around one of their own who has grown right before their eyes.
The MTAM, Marine Trade Association of Maryland, paired DiMillo’s and Michael Morais in May of 2021 as part of a 6-week internship giving Mike exposure to the marine trades. Following his internship, DiMillo’s offered Mike a position as detailer. Equipped with a positive attitude, a great work ethic and an eagerness to learn, Mike was quickly promoted to Apprentice Service Technician where he has spent every minute learning anything and everything he could get his hands on. Over the last two years, Mike has been awarded the 2022 MacGyver Award for his innovative repairs. In addition, he was part of the group awarded the 2022 DiMillo’s Ambassador Award. In September of 2023, Mike was promoted to full Service Technician. Not only is Mike deserving of this promotion with his skills, but his solid demeaner and trustworthy actions make him a favorite co-worker on the DiMillo’s team.
Mike had the opportunity to run a Sabre 38 Salon Express from DiMillo’s West River location and dock it at the show. This was his first time captaining a vessel on his own and the entire DiMillo’s team was there to cheer him on as he landed at the dock.
