Meet Erik Hawkinson, Service Manager at DiMillo’s on the Chesapeake East, in Oxford, MD. Erik joined the crew in 2024 and says he loves working at DiMillo’s “because the company truly puts both customers and employees first. You can tell those priorities are at the heart of everything they do, and it makes a real difference!”. We’re so happy to have Erik on the team and want to share a bit about him with you:
“Growing up in Minnesota, I was taught to make the most of the limited boating season. The Apostle Islands on Lake Superior were my main stomping grounds. The ferocity of that lake was a thoughtful teacher in humility. I received a proper taste of the East Coast in the US Navy, being stationed in Norfolk, VA aboard the USS Normandy CG60 as a QM. Once back in MN, I continued to sail and work on as many boats as I could. One very cold winter, living in the north woods, my little family decided we had enough and moved our life out to Rhode Island so I could attend IYRS and solidify my marine knowledge. After school, we moved to Maryland where I got a job with Hinckley Yachts. After a few years, we decided to fulfill a lifelong goal and we moved aboard our 36-foot Ketch and we traveled for three years. We had such a great experience on the Eastern Shore we made a choice to call it home. Now at DiMillo’s, I feel like I am in the right place with the right people and the right boats.”
