Jay Wilkins

I was born and raised in the greatest state in the Midwest, Wisconsin. With a fascination for all things aquatic, which lead to a lot of fishing, kayaking, boating, really anything around the water. My whole life I have just wanted to help the creatures of the sea in any way I could but when it came time to choose a career, I neglected my passion and decided to go to school at a small in-state college studying neuroscience and criminology. A covid riddled year passed by and I realized I was extremely unhappy doing that, so I packed up my bags and transferred to UMO without ever having been to Maine in my life, all to follow my lifelong passion of marine science.

Fast forward four years and I obtained that degree, afterwards I spent my summer as a lighthouse keeper off the coast of Boothbay on Burnt Island. Taking care of and restoring the island while interacting with the many tourists that would come ashore, enlightening them about the ecosystems and history of the island. It was an amazing experience but seasonal, so after my time there came to an end I began looking for somewhere to cement myself. After a couple of tumultuous months, I landed here at DiMillo’s where I am excited to get to learn a whole knew onslaught of skills and dust off some old ones.

In my spare time I greatly enjoy finding new places to eat because I am a huge foodie. I also love fashion, video games/media, and scuba diving, which I am currently working towards becoming a dive master.
