A seaside town established in the 1600’s and a former whaling port from the mid 1800’s, Cold Spring Harbor is a hamlet in the town of Huntington, full of rich culture and history.
Anchor right before the inner harbor and take a short dinghy ride to the shore for a 1/4 mile walk into town. At the entrance of Billy Joel Park, you will see the famous small black hose with constant running water – the cold spring that people line up to fill jugs with the cold fresh spring water that gave the town it’s name.
A walk further into town and you will be greeted by quaint shops, spots to eat, live music as well as a couple of museums dedicated to the local history of the area. Cold Spring Harbor is a great place to stop for a day visit during your cruise up or down the east coast of Long Island.
